Summer Programs for Children and Teens

Tech Programs

3D Design: Thursdays, 5-6 pm. Ages 13-17, Ages 10-12 if accompanied by parent / guardian. This program will be on Zoom. Learn to design 3D objects in Tinkercad with Norwalk Public Library. Email bhighland@norwalkpl.org to register.

Coding Tuesdays: Tuesdays, 5-6 pm. Students in Grades 2-5 (Ages 7-11). This program will be on Zoom. Students will learn how to code with Scratch using a computer science program called CS First. Scratch is a free block-based computer programming language developed by MIT which can be used to create interactive stories, games and animations. Login information will be emailed to participants after registering here. It is recommended that a parent or legal guardian be with you during the program.

Sofa Storytimes: Every Wednesday at 2 pm have fun engaging with songs, a story, and a craft. Join storytime LIVE on Instagram or watch on IGTV where it is posted for 48 hours. Follow @NorwalkLibCT

Zumbini: Saturdays, 10-10:30 am. This program will be on Zoom. Zumbini® combines music and dance for caregivers and their little kids. You will need a “scarf” (a scarf, washcloth, tissue, or similar fabric) to dance with!


Book Clubs and More

Books and Binge Buzz: Tuesday, 8/12, 6 pm. Ages 10-17. This program will be on Zoom. Join us from our website for an informal meeting to talk about the books you are reading and shows you are binge watching. Listen to some book talks on new book releases, and get reading recommendations for books to read and shows to watch! Join here.

Graphic Novel Book Club: Wednesday, 8/19, 6 pm. Ages 8-12. This program will be on Zoom. Read the graphic novel, Cardboard Kingdom by Chad Sell, then discuss it and do an activity! Books available at the library (curbside), and on our Hoopla and Libby apps. Click here to join the fun.

Middle School Nutmeg Book Club: Wednesday, 8/26, 6 pm. Tweens Grades 6-8. This program will be on Zoom. Join our Nutmeg Book Club! Ms. Lauren served on the 2021 Middle School Nutmeg Committee and is excited to discuss the 10 nominees with you. Readers are invited to discuss the 2021 candidates for the Middle School Nutmeg Award, answer trivia questions, and do an activity related to the books. This month’s book is TBD. Click here to join.
