  2. Informational Session About Mentoring – Mentor a Child and Change a Life

    March 27, 2018, 9:30 AM - 11:00 AM @ Full Auditorium

Informational Session About Mentoring – Mentor a Child and Change a Life Have you ever considered becoming a mentor? The Human Services Council is hosting a coffee to discuss their Norwalk Mentor Program. Established in 1986, the Norwalk Mentor Program was the first school-based mentoring program in the country. The program matches caring adults with a student in one of the Norwalk Public Schools. They meet for one hour a week at school during the school day. The mentor encourages social, academic and mental growth. Once screened and trained, new mentors are matched with a student in one of the 19 Norwalk Public Schools. They play games, read together, do crafts or another activity or just talk. It makes a huge difference to young people - just to have a caring, supportive adult in their lives - one who is not a family member or a teacher. Come to learn more about the program and how you can volunteer. Please RSVP to Julie Lewis at jlewis@hscct.org or 203-849-1111 x 3002.
