OUR BEST INTENTIONS sheds light on timely social issues: how society responds to traumatic events, including how we make sense of them; the judgements we make; and the lengths we go to, to protect ourselves and our loved ones. Jain also offers a powerful portrayal of belonging—what it’s like to fit in, but not quite—as an Indian-American, and how to navigate the dialogue around race in America. At its heart, OUR BEST INTENTIONS is a story about a father and a daughter—how they grow, how they try (and fail) to understand each other, and how their relationship evolves.
